Tim Pek's World Premiere The Red Sense

The Red Sense
By Paul Milsom.

The Birth Of The Red Sense Movie: It all started back in 2005 when two film makers Tim Pek & Rithy Dourng started this fresh new project that would open everyones eyes to a terrible historic event that should never happened. This unforgivable series of events would now be made into a motion picture. It was very ambitious but it had to be made none the less.

This project was so ambitious that they had their fare share of critics. Too many to name. So much so that they, the critics never believed that this powerful emotional love story would ever be made into a film, especially with such a small budget. But Tim & Rithy saw something special in this little creation & were determined to get this film out there for all to see & enjoy just as they had done.

They proved their critics wrong and now they've done it with so much against them. Many film makers in Australia have attempted to produce a Khmer Rouge film.

They have not only done it, but they have done an exceptional job. This is in many respects been a very personal not to mention very emotional experience for the cast & crew as they themselves have lost many of their loved ones to the Khmer Rouge Regime.

This is more than a film for Tim. This has been a journey to a destination.

Tim & Rithy's Aim/Objection:

This film Tim hopes to not only educate & inform the younger khmers about their parents & ancestors but to show more respect to their history & their heritage that was squashed by Pol Pot & his Khmer Rouge Regime. Thousands of people around the world, especially
online were hungry for more answers on this not so known subject which unfortunately was a reality.

This film will give most people their answers in Tim & Rithy's interpretation of this infamous event. It would be a lot easier to erase it from our minds but this story must be told.

Description- "This film will Educate, Stimulate, Inform, Entertain, Enthrall, Shock & Inspire all at once at the same time!".

A story of Honour, Love Betrayal & Forgiveness. From the Director of "Bokator" & "Annoyed" comes Tim Pek's debut film!!! "The Red Sense"

Cambodian Music - B I O G R A P H Y OF TIM PEK - DIRECTOR, WRITER, PRODUCER

Born in the province of Battambang, Tim lived half of his life in Cambodia. Early1988, his family of seven moved to Australia to start a new life. Tim started to draw cartoons, write stories and suddenly his passion for art and design emerged. Equipped with some of the world's most recognized graphic design tools, Tim's obsession with graphic design took root.

Following his instinct and early signs of artistic skills, Tim initially worked at a graphic design company in Melbourne for five years before embarking upon a journey that was to establish him as a renowned graphic designer. Starting fresh at a multimedia company, Tim was able to use his sense of design and distinct eye for composition to successfully direct a sixty second commercial. His lucid visual style of filming was developed and continues to amaze.

Tim is well known for his relentless pursuit for perfection in both talent and location, especially so in his music video projects. He strongly believes that it is always possible to find a point of difference when inventing visual elements to create a simple and yet classy motion picture or video; all of which are great motivations for his exceptional works.

In 2004, Tim was unexpectedly given a small role to play in an Australian short film, called Chhay, the film focused on the pre and post Khmer Rouge era about two brothers. Exposed for the first time to filmmaking production, Tim started to contemplate on various ways to improve the concepts of filmmaking.

A few months later, Tim received a Cambodian Fashion Show video from Adelaide with an extra feature of a five minutes short film, directed by Chhai Thach. This film, entitled 'Bugger!', was made in New Zealand and had surprisingly won the best short film award. Impressed with how a simple story could be achieved, Tim got in contact with Chhai and discussed the making of a new short film as a team. A month later, Chhai came up with another mystery story, also based during the Khmer Rouge era, which after some discussions, both Tim and Chhai agreed to make three parts of the story. Eager and inspired, Tim managed to produce a script within a few weeks as a 15 minutes short film to contend in the film festivals.

The film project was created on the dawn of the year 2005. It is his debut feature film to be called, 'The Red Sense' or 'Vignean Krohom' in Khmer. This is the first ever film by Tim as a new director with limited experience and knowledge of filmmaking yet full of pure passion and artistic talent. Tim had millions and millions of ways to portray the story, it seemed crazy to keep churning out. " I had the opportunity to work with various non-actors which I thought would be a terrific opportunity as a director. The casts and crews are very supportive, which continues to keep my spirit high," says Tim.
